Serengeti National Park, in northern Tanzania, is known for its massive annual migration of wildebeest and zebra. Seeking new pasture, the herds move north from their breeding grounds in the grassy southern plains. Many cross the western corridor’s crocodile-infested Grumeti River. Others veer northeast to the Lobo Hills, home to black eagles. Black rhinos inhabit the granite outcrops of the Moru Kopjes.
The Serengeti is one of the greatest wildlife sanctuaries in the world with the greatest concentration of plain game on earth. Visit the endless rolling grasslands which support countless zebra and wildebeest in the park. The plains are also home to giraffe, buffaloes, gazelles and elephants.

From Arusha to Tanzania’s top tourism destination is about 325 km taking about 8 hours through amazing countryside. You will stop at Olduvai Gorge also known as the cradle of mankind. This is where fossils of the earliest human kind were discovered. Take some time here learning a about such human history.
You will enter the Serengeti through the Naabi Hill Gate. Lunch will be taken en-route or on arrival at your hotel. As you head towards your lodge, you will have a mini game drive along the road leading to the lodge. Look out for wildebeest, Thomson’s gazelle, zebras, lions, giraffes, hippos, elephants and baboons. If you are a birder, then you might want to look out for the ostrich. You could even be lucky to spot a mother taking care of the chicks.
Enjoy a game drive on your way to your accommodation, watching the landscape change within the park from the vast treeless central plains to thick scrub and forest in the north. Linking these areas is the savanna, dotted with acacia trees and magnificent rock outcrops. You may visit the Simba Kopjes, an outcrop favoured by lion and cheetah as high perches and a place to hide their cubs, and they can often be seen basking in the morning sun on top.
You will take dinner and overnight while at the Serengeti is Mbalageti Tented Camp (Budget), Shuhudia Adventure Tented Camp (mid-range) and Kirawira Serena Luxury Tented Camp (Luxury). The choice of the lodge will depend on your safari budget giving you the chance to enjoy what is fit for you.
On the next day, get the opportunity to go the all-day game drive in the Serengeti national park as well as the Ngorongoro crater. Wake up early and take your breakfast as you wait for the Guide/Driver.
You will be taken for a morning game drive at the Seronera valley for a chance to see zebras, wildebeests, lions, topi, water bucks, genet, hyrax, hippos, serval cats, foxes, elephants, buffaloes, eland, monitor lizards, the aardwolf, mongoose, jackals, Masaai giraffes, porcupines, aardvark, Thompson gazelle, Grants gazelle, caracal, hartebeest, cheetahs, leopards, lions and hyenas. The park is home to about 4,000 lions, colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys and the common baboon.
You will eat your Picnic lunch in the middle of all the wildlife and amazing savannah then continue to drive through the Serengeti plains towards the Ngorongoro crater. It is one of the three most impressive game viewing locations in the world. It is the best place in the world for viewing the big cats in action.
Descend into the crater and have one of the best wildlife experiences in Africa. Our Guides/Drivers are flexible and can start the game drives earlier than usual or to particular sections of the park or reserve. You will spend the evening and night in one of the lodges at the edge of the Ngorongoro caldera.
This will be an introduction day to wildlife in the crater and the main day will be the next day. Take your dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge (Budget), Rhino Lodge (Mid-range) and Ngorongoro Neptune Luxury Lodge (Luxury) depending on your budget.
On the main day, wake up early and take your breakfast as you prepare for a final game drive inside the Ngorongoro crater. The game drive starts at 7:00 am to see all the big five mammals of Africa including leopards, buffaloes, rhino, elephant and other creatures.
Supported by a year-round water supply and fodder, the crater supports a vast variety of animals, which include herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and giant African elephants. Another big draw card to this picturesque national park is its huge population of predators, which include lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs and the ever-elusive leopard.
There’s also the option of a balloon ride over the park in the Serengeti. If you came ready and had pre-booked for the activity you will be picked up before dawn and driven to the launch site. After a safety briefing, you will glide through the dawn, sometimes at tree height, which provides amazing photo opportunities.
Sometimes you will ascend, getting an overview of the enormity of the plains and the early morning movements of the teeming herds. After landing, you’ll be treated to a five-star bush breakfast, then back to lodge. After all the activities, you will have to drive back to Arusha for your flight back home after an early breakfast.
