Rooftop tent car journey across Uganda is one of the best journeys you would ever think of. This safari will take to different parts of the country with comfort and no pressure at all since you are in control of the starring giving you the opportunity to determine where to go at a particular time.
Enjoy the unique views of the surroundings. If you’re in a campground, you’ll be able to see more of the surrounding landscape and if you’re in a spot that has a particularly nice view, you can park your vehicle to give you the best possible line of sight. This can also help if you’re in a crowded spot with lots of other tents around you such as an outdoor concert, for example. If you’re tenting at ground level, you’ll only see the neighbouring tents but when you’re elevated, you can see over the top of them all. All this will be the best of you use of the rooftop tent car on your Uganda safari.
The safari will start with arrival at Entebbe international airport where you will be welcomed by our representative to hand the rooftop tent car to you after signing a contract with you. After all is cleared, take off to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary found in Nakasongola as your first destination in Uganda where you will be welcomed at the camp ground for overnight.
Early in the morning, you will go to track Rhinos which starts from 8am to 10am. This adventure will give you the opportunity to watch these endangered, magnificent creatures in their natural habitat. All the rhinos at Ziwa are free to move around the 27 square miles within the ranch making a necessity to drive there before the foot adventure starts.
You will then embark on a journey to Murchison Falls national park starting with the top of the Falls. Get in torch with the first sight of the falls from the top is amazing. The thunderous roar as the water forces its way through the gorge before falling 42 meters below is one of the most memorable moments while in the park. From here you will head to the camping ground where you will prepare your meal and then overnight in your rooftop tent.
Early in the morning, take a Game drive which is done alone although the presence of a ranger from the park turns it into a more educative activity because they can help identify the types of birds and mammals or take you to the best places to find them. While on a 3-hour game drive to Murchison Falls, expect to spot animals like buffaloes, crocodiles, elephants, giraffes, Hippopotamus, Leopards, lions, Monitor lizards, Side Striped Jackals, Spotted Hyenas and warthogs. The antelope species in the park include the Bohor Reedbuck, Bushbuck, Defassa Waterbuck, Hartebeest, Oribi and the Uganda Kob among others.
In the afternoon, you will go for a boat cruise giving you the opportunity for the abundant wildlife and some of the greatest collection of hippos and crocodiles in Africa on the other side after the fall’s shores. The cruise takes about 3 hours starting and ending at the bottom of the falls. The top of the falls offers a breathtaking view of the waterfall and the loud roars coming from the water rushing down to the river. You will also see buffaloes, elephants and various species of antelopes drinking by the shores of the river. Back to camp ground for overnight.
Wake up early and embark on journey to Kidepo national park one of the most pristine and least disturbed of Africa’s wildernesses. Check in at the camping ground, prepare dinner and then overnight.
Take an early morning break fast, then take on the game drive along the Narus Valley since much of the year the park’s wildlife gathers here. This area is well designed with track circuits and with a 4×4 rooftop tent car, you get the clear views of herbivores grazing in the short savanna plains. Lions and other cats are often sighted on top of rocks and kopjes looking out for prey in the vast plains. The best time for the game drive is in the early morning when herbivores are grazing and the cats are on hunt!
You will also go for a community tour. The Karamajong culture and way of life is as undisturbed and Kidepo’s wilderness. Set out for a visit to enjoy their unique cultures, traditional houses called Manyatta and their setting of homesteads, traditional dances, traditional handcraft stools, spears and hand bungles from beads. Back to camp ground for over night.
Embark on the journey to Pian Upe game reserve a conservation area in the Karamoja sub region of northeastern Uganda. It is that one protected area that has not been fully explored by many and paying a visit here means a great opportunity for you to get the best of African experiential safari holiday.
This vast savanna reserve is best explored on a game drive using a 4×4 safari vehicle giving you clear view of wildlife including giraffes, lions, leopards, cheetahs, buffaloes, elephants, impalas, zebras, duikers. Go for the amazing sightseeing experiences especially at Napedet Cave. The cave is a famous ancient recreational site for the first occupants of this area. This makes it possible to see the incredible paintings of baboons, giraffes, hartebeest, roan antelopes.
Take off to jinja for yet another experience at the source of river Nile. The Nile offers opportunities to experience all kinds of interesting water sports with most popular activities being the Grade 5, white water rafting and a sunset Cruise to the Source of the Nile.
White water rafting is one of the best experiences in jinja. The weather is conducive all year round and the water rapids look surreal. White water rafting on River Nile is best done in groups and an all-day rafting session covers a distance of about 21 kilometres through eight big rapids. In some parts, the water is calm, clear and perfect for swimming. Plenty of bird species can also be seen hovering around.
You take a rest in jinja as you chill unwinding from the safari and the long drives as you memorise and editing the photos you captured on your safari. You can even take time to drive around jinja town exploring and enjoying the town. It was once a colonial town which you wouldn’t miss to see some of the remaining colonial buildings of those days.
As you drive to Kampala, you will have an en-route to mabira forest a destination perfect for nature lovers looking for a short trip. You will be able to see the different species of trees and shrubs and some of the shrubs have been discovered to be unique to Mabira Forest. You may see the small mammals such as Duikers, Bushbucks, Squirrels, Red-tailed Monkeys, and the Uganda Mangabey a primate which is found only in Uganda.
Continue to Kampala and finally Entebbe where you will handover the rooftop tent car to our representative. This will be the end of your safari as you take a flight back home.
