This kind of safari starts from Entebbe International Airport-Uganda and ends at Kigali International Airport-Rwanda. The client engages in variety of activities such as gorilla trekking in Uganda and Rwanda, chimpanzee trekking in Kibale National Park among others. A customized safari, a client tells us the kind of activities he or she wants to engage in, the kind accommodation where he wants to stay and our job is to do the bookings and plan for his safari. Below is a brief itinerary of one of our clients.
Day 1: Arrival in Uganda (Entebbe)
Arrival at Entebbe International Airport and he will be met by our safari guide upon arrival.
Depending on his arrival time, he will stay at Protea Hotel Entebbe which offer comfort and easy access to the airport for the next day’s journey.
Day 2: Transfer to Kibale National Park
After breakfast, he will embark on a scenic drive through Uganda’s stunning landscapes. Kibale is known for its dense rain forests and it’s one of the best places for chimpanzee trekking in Uganda. On arrival, he will check in at Kyaninga Lodge where he will enjoy the peaceful surroundings of the park.
Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking and Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary
In the morning, he will head out for a chimpanzee trek with a knowledgeable guide. Kibale is home to over 1,500 chimpanzees and the trek is an incredible experience offering the chance to see them in the wild.
After lunch, he will visit Bigodi swamp where you can enjoy a guided walk through the wetland, spotting various bird species and other primates. Return to your lodge for an evening of relaxation.
Day 4: Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast, he will enjoy a scenic drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, one of Uganda’s premier wildlife destinations. In the afternoon once he arrives, he will embark on a game drive through the park to spot a variety of animals including elephants, lions, buffaloes and numerous antelope species. Lunch, dinner and sleepover at Mweya Safari Lodge.
Day 5: Boat Safari on the Kazinga Channel and explore Ishasha sector
After having breakfast, he will go for a morning boat cruise on Kazinga Channel. This 2-hour boat ride will allow you to get up close to hippos, crocodiles and a myriad of bird species. It is an excellent opportunity for bird watching and photography.
After lunch, will head to the Ishasha sector of the park, famous for its tree-climbing lions. The landscape here is spectacular and you will have the chance to see lions lounging in fig trees which is a rare and amazing sight. Overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge.
Day 6: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Morning drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. This scenic 4–5-hour drive takes you through the southwestern part of Uganda offering incredible views of the landscape and local communities. He will stay at Silverback Lodge for a more luxurious experience close to the park entrance.
Day 7: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After early morning breakfast, he will embark on a thrilling trek to see the mountain gorillas in Bwindi, one of the few places in the world to encounter these majestic creatures. After meeting them, spend an hour observing and photographing them in their natural habitat.
After the trek, he will return to the lodge to relax and reflect on this unforgettable experience.
Day 8: Cross the Border to Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda
Volcanoes National Park in northwest Rwanda protects endangered species such as mountain gorillas and golden monkeys as well as a variety of wildlife. Volcanoes National Park covers 160 km2 (62 sq mi) of rainforest and encompasses five of the eight volcanoes in the Virunga Mountains namely Karisimbi, Bisoke, Muhabura, Gahinga and Sabyinyo. It borders Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park in Uganda. It is home to the mountain gorilla and the golden monkey and was the base for the primatologist Dian Fossey.
In the morning, drive for about 4-5 hours to cross into Rwanda and arrive at Volcanoes National Park, home to more mountain gorillas. The scenery en route is breathtaking.
Stay at Virunga Lodge for dinner and overnight stay and this lodge offer incredible views of the volcanoes.
Day 9: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
This morning, he will go for a second trek in Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park. The trekking experience is similar to Uganda but the landscapes are distinct with views of the Virunga volcanoes. After the trek, can visit the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund to learn more about the history of gorilla conservation in the region.
Day 10: Golden Monkey Trekking and Cultural Experience
On this day, instead of another gorilla trek, you can opt to trek the endangered golden monkeys, which are a delight to see in the bamboo forests of Volcanoes.
After lunch, visit a local village and learn about Rwanda’s traditions and culture. You may get to enjoy a dance performance or taste local dishes. Return to your lodge for a relaxing evening.
Day 11: Transfer to Kigali, Rwanda’s Capital
After breakfast, head to Rwanda’s capital for a city tour including a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial which is a powerful and moving experience.
Explore Kigali: You can also visit local markets or explore the city’s vibrant cafes and restaurants.
Overnight in Kigali at Kigali Serena Hotel for a comfortable night before your departure.
Day 12: Departure
Depending on the flight schedule, he will enjoy a bit more time exploring Kigali or shopping for souvenirs before heading to Kigali International Airport for the flight back home or the next destination.
